ABOUT THE BLACKROCK DEPTHS DUNGEON

The Blackrock Depths (or short BRD) is the largest dungeon in the history of World of Warcraft – it's a classic of the old-school game design, a non-linear labyrinth with lots of bosses. It's so easy to get lost if you don't know the instance very well, leading to nasty accidents and unfortunate deaths. The dungeon is meant for players of 52 to 60 levels, with difficulty scaling up from the initial encounters towards the final ones. There are a few points of interest located inside, such as Black Anvil, where the masters of the blacksmith will head to craft some of the most powerful items, and the Black Forge, the only place capable of smelting the Dark Iron Ore.

Completing the dungeon with so many bosses usually takes many hours, and there is no place to rush in the Hardcore scenario – you won't be able to run back and recover if something happens, so completing an entire dungeon is a long adventure. The BRD is part of the two Raid Attunement Questslines for the Onyxia's Lairand the Molten Core. The default entrance to the MC for players who still need to complete the attunement lies within the Blackrock Depths.

Black Anvil, located near the Lord Incendius, is unique – players with the leveled-up Blacksmithing will be able to use it to craft early Fire Resistance Gear (Dark Iron Armor and Weapons), as well as unique items such as Nightfall and Sulfuron Hammer.
